About Becky Diaz
Are you hoping to make a change, adapt to a life transition, or see your life from a new perspective? Maybe you’ve experienced pain or loss, or you're unsure if therapy can really help you or your family. These questions are valid—and you're not alone in asking them.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I work collaboratively and compassionately, honoring your pace and the protective strategies that have helped you survive. Whether you're coming as an individual, a couple, or a family, healing is possible. Relationships can deepen, understanding can grow, and your sense of connection—to yourself and to others—can expand.
Whatever you're navigating, I’m here to support you with care, experience, and the tools to help you shape your story.
Services
Individual
In individual therapy, I work collaboratively with you to support your journey of healing and growth. Together, we take a holistic look at your life—exploring patterns, pain, and possibilities—so that you can move toward greater choice and freedom. I bring experience in working with trauma and guiding the process of unburdening its impact.
Family
As a systems therapist, I work with families to strengthen their bonds as they move through challenges and life transitions. Whether you're navigating developmental stages, increased conflict, or intergenerational patterns, we focus on creating space for deeper connection. Parents, children, and extended family members can rediscover joy and security in your attachments, even in the midst of struggle.
Couples therapy is a powerful space for deepening connection and repairing the bond between partners. I work with couples of all backgrounds and relationship structures to navigate challenges and strengthen their connection. Whether you're moving through a life transition, feeling unsure about the future of your relationship, or working through infidelity, trauma, intimacy, communication, or co-parenting struggles, therapy can help. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I support couples in building greater intimacy, trust, and a more resilient relationship.
Couples
My Approach
Compassion
Compassion here means offering you a gentle, non‑judgmental space where you can learn and grow, make mistakes, and still be held with care. This is a place where all parts of you are welcome and you can feel fully seen and understood.
Clarity
Clarity here means helping you see that you are not alone in what you’re going through. I’ve walked with many people through pain and suffering, and I know how human these struggles are. There is a way forward, and we’ll create a path that is flexible and adaptive to your needs.
Curiosity
Curiosity here means you don’t have to have all the answers or show up a certain way. I don’t make assumptions about your lived experience. I’m here to get to know you, to make sure therapy truly meets your needs, and to explore your identities in ways that support greater self‑expression, understanding, and safe connection.
Client Feedback
"I've had my fair share of therapy nightmares, but I decided to give it one more try and I'm so glad I did because I found Far Reach Therapy. Becky's style of therapy took me outside of my comfort zone and gave me tools that I'll be able to use for the rest of my life. She helped me identify my personal growth goals and after our time together, I can confidently say I've reached them all. I trust myself more and have made peace with the parts of me that I use to dread."

Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
I provide individual, couples, and family therapy for residents of New York and New Jersey. My practice is built on a trauma-informed and systems-oriented foundation, which simply means I look at the "whole picture" of your life.
Whether I am working with a person’s internal world, a couple’s communication, or a family’s dynamics, my goal is to help you understand and have more choice around the protective strategies that keep you stuck. By shifting these patterns, we create space for more authentic connection and ease. I also offer professional supervision and consultation for fellow clinicians.
What are some common reasons people work with you?
People seek therapy for a variety of reasons—sometimes to heal from a specific pain, and other times to simply grow. Some of the most common themes in my work include:
-
Self-Discovery and Internal Growth: Developing a deeper understanding of yourself and cultivating a more compassionate, integrated relationship with your "internal world."
-
Healing from Trauma: Moving beyond survival mode and finding relief from the lasting impact of past experiences or high-stress environments.
-
Changing Relational Patterns: Breaking out of repetitive cycles of conflict or distance in couples and families to create more authentic connection.
-
Navigating Life Transitions: Processing major shifts in identity, career, or family structure (such as new parenthood or navigating boundaries with adult family members).
-
The "Helper" Burnout: Providing a dedicated space for therapists and caregivers to process the emotional demands of their roles.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. This means I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, I can provide you with a monthly "Superbill" (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. I recommend calling your provider to ask about your "out-of-network behavioral health benefits."
Is your practice identity-affirming?
Yes. I believe that therapy is most effective when it honors the fullness of who you are. Our identities—including race, culture, neurotype, religion, gender, relationship structure, and immigration history—deeply impact how we move through the world and how we experience ourselves.
As a neurodiverse clinician of color, I am committed to providing a compassionate space where these intersections are respected. I understand the weight of "masking" and the delicate process of navigating the expectations of our families and cultures while also honoring our own individual growth. In this space, you don't have to leave any part of your identity at the door; we look at the whole picture with curiosity and respect for the systems that have shaped you.
